CONTACT US FOR MORE DETAILS! Friday, September 12th, 2008 - Dynatek Racing made the journey from their headquarters in Masury, Ohio to T and L Engines facility in North Carolina Friday morning. The goal, to test Dyanteks 48 IDA stack fuel injection on T and Ls Superflow 901 dyno. Prior to their arrival, the team at T and L Engines put together a 347 cubic inch small block Ford stroker. This was T and Ls basic A-2 model of the 347 featuring cast crank, forged I-beam rods, and hypereutectic pistons. Camshaft was a hydraulic roller, 224 / 230 duration at .050 with .556 / .515 lift, custom grind from Comp Cams. The short block was topped with a set of aluminum Dart Pro 1 heads with 195cc intake runners and 2.02 / 1.60 valves. After the combustion chambers were measured at 61cc, the static compression ratio was calculated, working out to 10.1:1. In order to get a good baseline, T and L installed the usual Edelbrock RPM Air Gap, dual plane manifold and a custom built Holley carb from AED. A 750 model was used for this test to better match the flow capacity of the 48 IDA throttle bodies. This resulted in a slight drop in torque over the 650 model typically sold on the 347 engines. After the engine went through the normal 30 minute break in period, some baseline runs were made. Top numbers were 430 HP and 423 Ft Lbs. Next, the 4-barrel carb and intake manifold were removed, making room for the Classic Fuel Injection system. The Classic Fuel Injection system from Dynatek is the only system on the market that retains the old school look of downdraft carburetors while incorporating the superior control of fuel, ignition timing, emissions, and performance of electronic fuel injection. With the elimination of typical fuel rails and clever placement of the injectors inside each throttle body, this system is almost identical in appearance to the classic Weber downdraft carburetors. After the manifold was torqued down, each throttle body was installed. The fuel supply system was switched over to a high pressure electric pump and fuel lines. Fuel was fed to each injector by stainless steel braided line connected to passages in the throttle body. Once a leak free system was verified and fuel pressure set, the engine was re-fired and brought to operating temperature. Following a few short dyno runs and minimal changes to the fuel and ignition maps, this system was already showing impressive gains. Overall, our 347 made 455 HP and 446 Ft lbs for a net gain of 25 HP and 23 Ft lbs. A short afternoon on the dyno proved to be a success. Dynatek Racing has done an exceptional job in designing their Classic Fuel Injection system. T and L Engines offers this system as an option on almost all of our engines, including Chevrolet and Ford, for $5,995. This price includes installation and dyno testing on your T and L Engine.
